HOW TO MEASURE YOUR NAILS FOR PRESS ON NAILS

Hey babe, before you dazzle with your new set, getting the right fit is crucial. Today, I'll walk you through two foolproof methods to measure your nails: the Measuring Tape Method and the Paper Ruler Method. Let’s dive in!

1. The Measuring Tape Method

What You’ll Need:

  • Soft measuring tape (the kind used for fabric)
  • A pen and paper to note measurements

Steps:

  1. Position the Tape: Hold the end of the measuring tape at the widest part of your nail bed—right where the nail starts curving.
  2. Measure the Width: Stretch the tape across to the opposite side of the nail to capture the width at the widest point. Make sure the tape lies flat and snug against your nail. Do not stretch the tape too hard as deformation of the tape will affect accuracy.
  3. Record the Measurement: Write down the measurement in millimeters. This gives you the most precise sizing for your press-ons.
  4. Repeat for Each Nail: Every nail could be a different size, so measure each one separately.

3. The Paper Ruler Method

What You’ll Need:

  • A strip of paper or thin card
  • A ruler
  • A pen

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Strip: Cut a narrow strip of paper about 1/4 inch wide and long enough to wrap slightly around your finger.
  2. Mark Your Nail Width: Line up one end of the paper strip with one side of your nail, and with a pen, mark where the widest part of your nail ends on the other side.
  3. Measure the Mark: Place the paper against a ruler to measure the distance between the edge of the paper and the mark you made. Again, note this in millimeters for accuracy.
  4. Repeat for Each Nail: As with the tape method, measure each nail because sizes can vary.

4. Compare with Size Charts

Once you have all your measurements, compare them to the size chart. If you find yourself between sizes, it's usually safer to size up as you can buff and file the nails to the correct size.

 Happy styling!
